2017 Ponyride Market Dates
SUMMER SERIES: May 13, June 10, July 8, August 12, September 29 & 30, October 14
HOLIDAY MARKET: December 8 & 9
Cost To Participate
Costs to be a member of the 2017 Summer Series begin at $75 for monthly participation (except September), $125 for September only and $400 for a season pass (discounted monthly rate for serious sellers).
Vendors are expected to supply their own tent, tables, and chairs to accommodate a rain or shine outdoor event. The Ponyride staff will provide thorough instructions for setup including an assigned booth space, setup time, and protocol.
Value in Participation
The value of this experience extends so far beyond your 10’ x 10’ space and one day (or two) of market sales per month. By participating in our events, you are joining a vibrant community of your peers and investing in the economic growth of Detroit. Our event is managed by a small group of talented and dedicated team members that work around the clock to organize and promote the event, manage your needs, answer your questions, provide on site amenities and ensure that every month is a unique experience that keeps shoppers engaged and continues to draw crowds.
Tips for Application Success
Our 2017 applications are live now, and you'll find those links below. But before you apply, let’s review what makes for the strongest Market applications. Here's some of what we look for.
- A strong brand. We believe in your dreams and your vision, but a strong brand built on a cohesive product line makes you more approachable and memorable to shoppers--and our application review committee.
- A unique perspective. Some vendor categories are extremely competitive--specifically jewelry, art, sweets, ceramics, food, and women's accessories. We are committed to producing interesting events and thus, have a specific aesthetic that we're looking to build. Be sure your brand and products convey a unique perspective that can be set apart from the masses.
- Quality photos. Honestly, there is no one thing that will have a greater impact on your application than the photos we see. If your business does not have a Facebook page, Etsy store, or website featuring strong photos, the application will direct you in how to submit photos for review. So ask a friend, hire a photographer (or a photography student), or take an e-course. But spend a couple days getting quality photos.
- The right attitude. We utilize markets as a business incubator and see our vendors as part of our extended Ponyride community. Nice people are our people. Dedicated, enthusiastic, collaborative people are our people. And patience is a must.
About The Applications
We accept roughly 60-80 businesses for the Summer Series, and it's a rain or shine outdoor event. The Holiday Market will take place on December 9 & 10. There will be a separate application for those events.
Our Summer Series application is open now and closes at midnight on April 21. We will send out qualifying and waitlist notifications by April 28. Please refrain from emailing us about the status of an application. You should receive an automated confirmation email after successfully submitting your application.
Booth sharing is permitted on a case-by-case basis. However, each business sharing a space is subject to the full booth fee, and must apply separately for review by Ponyride staff. Vendors are not allowed to bring in outside vendors who have not been approved by the review committee. Should you want to share a booth with another vendor, your request must be received in writing 30 days prior to the event in question.
Ways to be a Vendor
At the start of each Ponyride Market season, all vendors must submit an application for approval. Approved vendors are then classified as the following:
